The National Exercise Referral Scheme (NERS) is a Welsh Government funded scheme which has been operating since 2007. It is the only National Exercise Referral Scheme in the UK and it aims to standardise exercise referral opportunities across all Local Authorities and Local Health Boards in Wales. The Scheme is evidence-based incorporating physical activity and behavioural change techniques to support clients to make lifestyle changes to improve their health and wellbeing.
There are a wide range of activities both gym based and class based to choose from for patients that have been through rehabilitation programmes. You will be able to access a wide range of opportunities and these will be available between 4 and 48 weeks of the programme (depending on medical condition). For more information, contact Joanne Barrett (the NERS local co-ordinator for Pembrokeshire).
