Wellbeing Support

Sometimes patients visit their GP for reasons other than medical issues as a result of not knowing where to get support for their wider social issues, which have a significant, negative impact on their health.

There is increasing acceptance that sources of support in local communities have an important role to play alongside clinical care or even as an alternative in improving someone’s individual health and wellbeing outcomes.

Wellbeing services offer people a wide range of sources of support within the community, improving emotional and physical wellbeing and reducing social isolation.

The services are often provided by people working and volunteering in the third sector or independent sector, complementing the role played by statutory organisations.  Some of these organisations can be found below:

Mental Health Support for All

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the first health board in Wales to launch a dedicated mental health advice service, offering support for all age groups through the established 111 call line. People will be able to access the service by phoning 111 and selecting option 2 where they will be put through to a mental health practitioner. The service will be accessible 7 days a week from 9.00am through to 11.30pm, with plans in place to move to a 24/7 operating hours later in the year.

Cefnogaeth Iechyd Meddwl I Bawb

Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Hywel Dda yw’r bwrdd iechyd cyntaf yng Nghymru i lansio gwasanaeth cyngor iechyd meddwl pwrpasol, gan gynnig cymorth i bob grŵp oedran drwy’r llinell alwad 111 sefydledig. O heddiw ymlaen bydd pobl yn gallu cael mynediad at y gwasanaeth drwy ffonio 111 a dewis opsiwn 2 lle byddant yn cael eu trosglwyddo i ymarferydd iechyd meddwl. Bydd y gwasanaeth ar gael 7 diwrnod yr wythnos o 9.00am hyd at 11.30pm, gyda chynlluniau ar waith i symud i oriau gweithredu 24/7 yn ddiweddarach yn y flwyddyn.
