If you are not sure which specialty you have been referred to, please check any correspondence that you have received from your hospital as this information should be included.
NHS Waiting Lists
The NHS has devised an information guide to help patients better understand how long people are waiting for services provided by the each Local Health Board.
It is important to bear in mind:
- Everyone is an individual and your care is managed based on your clinical urgency.
- Patients with more urgent clinical needs will have shorter waiting times.
- Cancer waiting times can be found on the Suspected cancer pathway waiting times interactive dashboard.
- If you have been referred to or are under the care of an English hospital, you can find information relating to waiting times at www.myplannedcare.nhs.uk.
It is important that you are supported to keep yourself well whilst you wait. You can visit the Waiting Well, Live Well and Health A-Z pages of this website. Your local health board’s website may also have further information and help.
NHS Waiting List Support
If you are a patient on a waiting list for treatment, the waiting list support service can help you in many ways.
- review your situation while you are on the waiting list, to see if there is any additional support that could help improve your quality of life and independence.
- help with referrals to other health board services such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, Expert Patient Programme, specialist nurses and smoking cessation.
- help with referrals to community services such as care and repair, Delta Wellbeing or Dewis Cymru.
- support you to take control over your condition while you are waiting for treatment.
- provide reassurance and advice on what you can do if your symptoms deteriorate.
